ETA completed the automation portion of this wastewater treatment plant upgrade project, developing PLC logic and the SCADA system for the new MBBR plant as well as the existing aeration system and a new standby generator with automatic changeover.
Project Highlights
Complex aeration & feed flow control modes to provide operator flexibility in various failure scenarios.
Full WBOPDC SCADA Integration allowing the site to be operated from any SCADA terminal in the district.
Plant commissioned while keeping existing systems fully operational.
Worked along-side Electro (Electrical Contractor) to deliver a cohesive Electrical & Automation offer.
Athenree & Wharawhara WTPS
ETA completed the both the electrical & automation work for these two plant upgrades which ran in parallel. This required careful management of resources to ensure project milestones were met.
Project Highlights
Wharawhara required a temporary containerized plant be built at short notice to allow the existing plant to be demolished. ETA delivered a cost effective solution using existing WBOPDC assets, in only a few days.
New plant able to be run whilst still maintaining operability of existing plant, allowing risk-free performance testing and change-back.
Three containerized WTP’s added as a variation to scope. These were designed, built and commissioned without affecting main project milestones.
Youngson Rd WTP
ETA completed the electrical installation work on this project, with NZ Controls as the nominated Automation Contractor. Together we delivered a functional plant despite challenging site and process conditions.
Project Highlights
Existing plant with very limited shut-down windows available, was migrated over to new switchboard and controls with only a few hours downtime per day. Original plan developed by others required a 2-3 day outage, which was not practical.
Project completed on time and on-budget for the electrical scope.
WBOPDC Central Zone was able to operate with no water restrictions for the 2025/26 summer.
